What the record shows
For 2026 the City's table lists, for the urban area, a residential rate of 1.758859% for the City and 0.153000% for education, set by the Province, a total of 1.911859%. For the rural area it lists 1.654192% for the City and the same education rate, a total of 1.807192%. The bill multiplies the home's assessed value from MPAC by the rate for its area.
An asking price is not an assessed value, and a rate for the wrong area is the wrong rate. The actual bill for a home, and any amount owing on it, sit with its current owner and the City.
