What the record shows
Schedule B lists the 2026 residential municipal rate separately for each area of the Municipality: 0.02169717 for the Chatham City area (420) and 0.02146562 for Wallaceburg (441-443), for example. Schedule A sets the residential education rate at 0.0015300. For a home in the Chatham City area that is a total of 0.02322717, or 2.322717% of assessed value; across the areas in Schedule B the residential total runs from 1.849296% to 2.335640%, the second for Chatham Downtown.
So the rate depends on which area a home is in, not only on the Municipality, and the Municipality also publishes its area rated charges by community. The bill multiplies the home's assessed value from MPAC by the rate. An asking price is not an assessed value, and a rate is not a bill: the actual bill for a home, and any amount owing on it, sit with its current owner and the Municipality.
