What the record shows
The Municipality's page says it does not currently license short-term rentals, except short-term rentals offering five bedrooms or more, which need a Rental Dwelling Unit, Large business licence. By-law 65-2026 defines that as a dwelling unit with five or more bedrooms rented as a single housekeeping unit or by the room. The page also sets out the history: a public survey in the summer of 2022, and reports to Council in September 2022 and April 2024 on options and costs.
Separately, under Rental Renovation Licence By-law 68-2026, a landlord needs a licence from the Municipality before an eviction for renovations when an N13 notice is served on or after 1 October 2026. The by-laws are the public rule. Whether a particular home is rented, and how, is a separate question.
