What the record shows

The Town's Official Plan says the Protected Countryside, which includes the Oak Ridges Moraine and Greenbelt Plan, represents approximately 75% of the Town's land area, and it has its own sections for the Greenbelt Plan Area (Protected Countryside) and the Oak Ridges Moraine, with a schedule for the moraine's Natural Heritage System. On the Province's maps, the moraine plan's sectional Map 4 covers East Gwillimbury, Markham and Whitchurch-Stouffville, boundary sheets 5 and 7 list East Gwillimbury, and Protected Countryside sheets 14, 17, 18, 20 and 21 name the Town.

The Town's Zoning By-law 2018-043 doesn't permit an accessory apartment in the Environmental Protection zone or in the Oak Ridges Moraine Core, Core Linkage and Countryside zones. A result from the provincial layers says whether an address falls inside a mapped area and which designation; it is a planning boundary, not a statement about what a particular lot may be used for.
