What the record shows
The City of Guelph has owned the Guelph Junction Railway since 1908. The City's page says it runs on 38.6 kilometres of track from Guelph Junction near Campbellville to Guelph's northwest industrial park, connects with the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National railways, and runs trains at very slow speeds through downtown; trains must sound their horn approaching a road-level crossing. The Ontario Railway Network maps tracks, crossings, junctions and stations, and the Utility Line dataset maps hydro lines, natural gas and water pipelines, and lines of unknown type. The feature type matters, because not every mapped line is a gas pipeline.
Both are mapping records, not a locate of buried services and not a statement about noise, vibration or a building setback. The Utility Line dataset's records date from 1977 to 2008, and the dataset was last updated in 2013, so a blank map near a Guelph home is not proof that no line exists.
