Are there planning applications on file for the home itself?
The same city application records, read for the address alone: a past minor variance, a severance, a site plan or a rezoning filed for this lot. In the four cities that publish the records, the check lists what is on file.

What the record is
A minor variance is the committee of adjustment's permission to depart from a zoning rule (a deck closer to the lot line, a taller garage). A severance splits a lot. Both leave a record against the address that explains why the home is the shape it is.
The report line lists the applications filed for the address with their type, year and outcome, or says none are on file in the years the city publishes.
Where it runs
