What the record shows
The Town's page says the Zoning By-law defines a short-term rental as the rental of a dwelling unit, or part of one, for 28 days or less without meals or commercial services, and that since 15 July 2022 every short-term rental owner must hold a licence before operating. The page lists the conditions: the property is the applicant's principal residence, a local contact is available around the clock and answers the Town or police within 24 hours, the lease or condominium by-law allows short-term rentals, occupancy is limited to two persons per bedroom, and records of rentals are kept.
The annual licence fee is $375, applications are made in person at Town Hall, and the Town first confirms whether a Certificate of Occupancy can be issued and schedules any inspections. The rules are the public record. Whether a particular home holds a licence is a separate question.
