What the record shows
The Business Licence By-law requires a licence for a dwelling unit, or part of one, rented for paid stays of less than 28 days. The Town's summary says no more than one short-term rental is permitted on a lot, within one dwelling unit; an operator may not rent more than three bedrooms or have more than six overnight guests, nor rent out a vehicle, tent or accessory building; and the rental needs one off-street parking space for each bedroom plus one for the permanent resident of the property. Listings carry the licence number and appear only on an approved platform.
The Municipal Accommodation Tax, under By-law 2024-68, has applied since 1 January 2025: four per cent on hotel stays and short-term rentals of less than 28 consecutive days. The by-laws are the public rule. Whether a particular home holds a licence is a separate question.
