Ottawa: questions buyers ask

Does the Greenbelt check cover Ottawa's National Capital Greenbelt?

The check reads Ontario's Greenbelt, Oak Ridges Moraine and Niagara Escarpment boundaries. Ottawa's National Capital Greenbelt is a different record, kept by the National Capital Commission.

What the record shows

Ontario's Greenbelt Plan covers a band of southern Ontario from near Rice Lake to the Niagara River, and the Province publishes its boundary and land-use maps. Ottawa's Greenbelt, the horseshoe of federal land around the city, belongs to the National Capital Commission and appears on the Commission's maps, not the Province's. The two share a name and nothing else.

So a result from the provincial layers says whether an address sits inside the Ontario Greenbelt, the Moraine or the Escarpment. It says nothing about the National Capital Greenbelt. For that, the Commission's maps are the record to read.

What OfferDue covers in Ottawa

The Greenbelt, Moraine and Escarpment check runs for any Ontario address, in the free check and in the full report, from the Province's layers. It does not read the National Capital Commission's boundary, so for an Ottawa home near the federal Greenbelt the Commission's map is the place to look.
