What the record shows

Council fixed the 2026 tax rates by By-law 2026-9323 on 14 April 2026. The City's property tax calculator, which says it is based on the 2026 tax rate and budget, uses a residential rate of 2.015531% for the City and 0.153000% for education, set by the Province, a total of 2.168531%. The Finance report to Council puts the 2026 taxes on a single-family home assessed at $193,000 at $4,185.26, which is that rate applied to that value. The bill multiplies the home's assessed value from MPAC by the rate.

An asking price is not an assessed value, and a rate is not a bill. The actual bill for a home, and any amount owing on it, sit with its current owner and the City.
