Home records, explained › The home and the lot

How big is the lot, according to the City's mapping?

Toronto publishes its property boundaries and Guelph its property lines as open data. The check reads the parcel at the address and gives its area, width and depth from the mapping.

Report check: Lot size from City maps. Entry reviewed 20 Oct 2026; each source below shows its own data date.

What the record is

Mapped parcel lines are drawn for the City's own records and are not a survey: the legal boundaries are in the registered survey and the parcel register. The mapping is close enough to say whether a lot is 10 m or 15 m wide, not where a fence should stand.

The report line gives the mapped area in square metres and square feet with the approximate frontage and depth. Elsewhere, the parcel register on ONLand and the MPAC notice carry the lot's recorded dimensions.
