Licences and registers to check

Ontario has no licence or public register for this work that we know of. People commonly ask for references, proof of liability insurance and, where the business has workers, a WSIB clearance.

Questions people ask before hiring

  • What is included, and what costs extra?
  • Is there insurance for damage to the home or to belongings?
  • Who comes to the home: your own staff or subcontractors?
  • What happens if the date changes?
