What the record shows

The Town's page says a licence is needed to provide short-term rental accommodation: homes rented for less than 28 days, for up to six months (180 nights) a year. The accommodation must be the operator's primary residence, no owner may have more than one short-term rental, and a property owned by a corporation can't be licensed. The licence costs $250 until November 6, 2026 and $500 after that, with a $233 fire inspection fee where the Fire Department needs to check, and every licensee and property is subject to random inspection.

The launch notice says the program rolls out in phases: short-term rentals from September 8, 2026, and long-term rentals in 2027. Where the rules aren't followed, the Town may issue warnings, orders or fines, add demerit points and charge penalties of $1,000 to $3,000. The program is the public rule; whether a particular home holds a licence is a separate question.
