What the record shows
The Town's page says the 2026 tax rates were passed by Council on 11 May 2026 and lists a total residential rate of 1.109984%. Its worked example for a home assessed at $100,000 splits the $1,109.98 bill into $635.75 for the Town (57%), $321.23 for the County of Simcoe (29%) and $153.00 for education (14%), the education rate being set by the Province. The bill multiplies the home's assessed value from MPAC by the total rate.
An asking price is not an assessed value, and a rate is not a bill. The Town issues tax certificates, for $76.50, on the taxes owing on a property; the actual bill for a home sits with its current owner and the Town.
