What the record is
The inventory is kept by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and covers federal properties only: airports, ports, military land, railways and the like. Private land that has been cleaned up before redevelopment is recorded differently, in Ontario's Environmental Site Registry, where a record of site condition is filed for the property.
The report line counts the federal inventory sites within 2 km and names the nearest with its status. The Environmental Site Registry can be searched by address for a record of site condition.
